Jalgaon a city in Maharashtra offers a number of beautiful sights for tourists. The ambiance of Jalgaon, has an historical nostalgia, and a certain amount of pride of past glory. Religious places to visit in Jalgaon

Omkareshwar Mandir:  The Omkareshwar temple in Jalgaon city is one of the loveliest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at Jai Nagar which is just a few Kilo meters from the city. There are many festivals that are observed in the temple. It hosts major festivals like Shivratri, Gokulashtami and Ramnavmi.

Padmalaya Temple: Padmalaya is a Ganesh temple also known as the “Prabhakshetra”. This religious place is located in Erandol taluka. The specialty of this temple is that it has two statues of Lord Ganesha which have trunks bending on right as well as on the left. The Padmalaya temple has a big history from Mahabharata. Bheemkund, the place where Bheema was killed in Mahabharata is near the temple.

Manudevi Temple: A well-known religious destination for tourists, Manudevi is located almost 30 km north to the city, in the northern Satpura hills. The temple is a beautiful sight as it is bounded by green forests along with the Satpura hills. Local transportation of MSRTC is available until Adgoan after which one can hire an auto rickshaw. Manudevi is the kul-daiwat of 90% of the Khandeshi people and hence has a lot of devotes all through the year. It also has a waterfall at the height of 60 feet and is a pleasant sight during rainy season.

Avchit Hanuman: The famous tourist destination near Rameshwaram is the Avchit Hanuman Temple situated on the bank of river Tapi and is surrounded by the beautiful Satpudas it is about 15 kms from Jalgaon. Large numbers of devotees attend the annual festival on Hanuman Jayanti.

Gardens and Parks in Jalgaon

There are a number of parks and gardens in Jalgaon city that add to the beauty of the city.

Mahatma Gandhi Gardens: One of the most beautiful gardens in the region, the Mahatma Gandhi gardens is located in the heart of the city. It covers a very large area with diverse varieties of flowers as well as gaming tools. This is a beautiful green place, which is frequented by many tourists for its variety of flowers, plants and lot of space for play and games.

Jalgaon tourismMehrun Park: One of the most former parks and is situated on the Shirsholi road. The park was inaugurated by Prithviraj Kapoor, the late film artist. It is a nice place with many trees which are the main source of attraction for tourists. This park has lot of entertainment available and Sundays are most preferred for people to visit this park.

J K Park: J K Park is a recently built park which is near the Mehrun Park. It is a nice play area for children’s as there are many attractions like the rabbits, parrots, and a big water pond called the “Mehrun Talaav”. The cool water of the pond and the view of the sunset is very beautiful.

Bahinabai Park: 
This park named after the well-known poet of Maharashtra, Bahinabai Chaudhari has different types of trees give the park its ambience and the people like to consider this place as a venue for relaxation and recreation.

Parola Fort: The Parola fort in Jalgaon is a historical fort founded in the year 1727 and it is assumed that it is related with the father of Laxmibai, the Great Rani of Jhansi. The fort is huge and measures around 160 to 130 square metres.

Gandhi Teerth: Located around 6 kilo metres away from the city towards Panchora, the Gandhi Teerth is at the Jain hills in Jalgaon. This is a state of art museum where one can experience and know the life of Gandhiji as well as about India’s freedom struggle. It is also an excellent library with over 8000 books about Gandhiji, about 152 audio speeches of Gandhiji etc. It is the only Mahatma Gandhi museum which uses audio facility.

Mehrun Lake: Mehrun is famous for the fruit known as the ‘Bor’. It is one of the popular tourist spots in Jalgaon. It is believed that the name Jalgaon has been inspired from the Lake.

Hot Water Spring of Unapdev: Located in the foothills of Satpuda hills ,The hot water springs of Unapdev is considered as holy and attracts lots of pilgrims here. This hot water spring is the main attraction here and there is reference about this hot water spring in Ramayana and puranas. The water is believed to have healing power which can cure various skin problems.

Shopping in Jalgaon

Jalgaon’s main shopping centre is the Phule market which is the retail market for consumer durables, clothing and even cosmetics. Here tourists come to find good quality cotton and other materials at a cheap rate. Jalgaon known as the Gold city is famous for its jewellery and can be bought from Sarafa Bazar, the biggest jewellery markets in Maharashtra, where one can find good quality gold and gold jewellery.

Jalgaon has a lot of deluxe and medium to budget accommodation options. By Road: The city of Jalgaon can be easily reached as there are number of bus services from various major cities of Maharashtra.

By Rail: There are frequent trains from various parts of India like Mumbai, Bhopal, Indore, Chennai, Kolkata etc. Jalgaon railway station is main railway station to reach Jalgaon and is very near to the city

By Air:
Jalgaon Airport which is only 6 km from the city centre is the nearest airport. Major airlines provide service to Jalgaon.

The best time to visit Jalgaon is during winters, from December to February as the summers can be a little harsh with its dry and hot weather.
